ABOUT THE INSTALLATION
RxART is collaborating with artist Nick Cave to transform Comer Children’s Hospital’s corridor connecting the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) and pediatric hospital. This installation will feature Cave’s celebrated Soundsuits, which will enliven the passageway similarly to their energetic presence at New York City’s Grand Central Station (pictured above). In the pediatric setting, Cave’s joyful and imaginative imagery will uplift the experience of Comer’s 5,000 annual visitors. Cave says, “I’m always thinking about what happens outside of the institution. How do we bring art to the public realm? I’m all about putting art out into the world, creating accessibility, and sharing the love.”
ABOUT THE HOSPITAL
The University of Chicago Medicine, home to Comer Children’s Hospital, has provided comprehensive, innovative medical care to children since opening its first pediatric facility in 1930. Comer Children’s Hospital is a 172-bed acute-care hospital that opened in 2005 and continues to unite advanced technology with a family-centered, kid-friendly philosophy to provide advanced specialty care for all children.
