ABOUT THE INSTALLATION
In 2023, RxART worked with artist Tomokazu Matsuyama to realize a bright and stimulating wall mural in the International Department of the Nappi Wellness Institute at SUNY Upstate. Inspired by the Japanese senbazuru tradition of folding 1,000 origami cranes, the mural depicts birds of various sizes and compositions soaring across bands of color and in between lively circular graphics and patterns. A study in contrasts, the mural presents an engrossing visual world, while the artist’s incorporation of senbazuru is conveyed through the angular shapes and symbolizes longevity, happiness, and good fortune.
This project was made possible through the generous support of ATWATER and Ducati North America.
